THE GINNING
At Elite Clan™ Apparel, the production method plays a crucial role in the cotton fiber’s characteristics, known as “staples.” Short staple cotton, like Upland cotton, has a length between 3/8″ to 15/16″ and requires low-maintenance processing. On the other hand, Extra Long Staple cotton (ELS), with a length of 1-3/16″ to 2-1/2″, demands specific spinning and weaving processes due to its soft, silky feel. Maintaining fiber length during ginning, spinning, and weaving is essential as longer staples result in smoother surfaces and increased durability, reducing pilling and tearing. Elite Clan™ Apparel utilizes roller gins for ELS cotton, gently separating seeds from lint, preventing damage to fibers, and creating a more even and sheen fabric after dyeing. Grading fiber samples based on length, strength, fineness, uniformity, and color ensures the quality of the cotton, ultimately affecting the yarn and fabric quality, and sometimes the price of the fiber.

Our factories are certified by independent third-party organizations, adhering to social sustainability standards based on key norms from the ILO, UNGPs, and OECD. The WRAP certification, the world’s largest independent social compliance program for the apparel industry, guarantees compliance with 12 principles, including fair compensation, no forced labor or discrimination, and a focus on health and safety. Additionally, we collaborate with Fairtrade Labeling Organizations (FLO) and FLOCERT to alleviate poverty, set stringent production standards, and promote responsible trading throughout the entire supply chain. We prioritize ethical practices to ensure the highest quality apparel for our community while maintaining social responsibility.
